Baikunthpur (Chhattisgarh): In a remarkable example of environmental responsibility and collective effort  the rescue workers of the SECL Baikunthpur Area have transformed the once dry and dull campus of the Koria Charcha Colliery into a vibrant green space filled with flowers, greenery  and the soothing sound of flowing water.

The rescue office complex, constructed in the 1990s, had remained largely unchanged for nearly 36 years. However, under the guidance of Regional General Manager B. N. Jha, the rescue department personnel undertook a voluntary initiative to beautify the premises through their creativity and teamwork and own labor.

One of the most striking features of the transformation is an old iron coal tub, once used for transporting coal in mines, now repurposed into an eye-catching flower planter. Filled with soil and blooming with colorful flowers, the discarded equipment stands today as a powerful symbol of recycling and innovative thinking.Adding to the charm is a hand-crafted artificial waterfall built using unused stones from the mines. The gentle sound of cascading water, surrounded by lush plants and flowers, has created a serene and refreshing atmosphere within the industrial campus. The site has quickly become a focal point for employees and visitors alike.Collective Effort Behind the Success:This inspiring initiative was led by Rescue Office In-charge Sushil Kumar and supported by a dedicated team including Sunil Varghese, Devendra Jaiswal, Ramsundar Rajwade, Mohar Sai, Jaikaran, Rajesh Namdev, Mohammad Tahir, Vijay Khatik, Ashish Shukla, Akhilesh Prasad, Anupa, Rani, Neera, and Shanti.

Among them, Sunil Varghese’s technical expertise played a particularly significant role in executing the project. His proactive approach and positive vision helped convert the idea into reality.

A clear message given by SECL Team Baikunthpur: Resposibility is more important than salary.

The rescue personnel have demonstrated that their commitment goes far beyond routine duties. By voluntarily creating a clean, green and aesthetically pleasing workplace, they have set an example of environmental stewardship and team spirit.

Today, the rescue office campus is no longer just an administrative building, it stands as a living model of innovation, sustainability and collective responsibility. The initiative is being hailed as an inspiration not only for the Baikunthpur area but for the entire SECL family.

If similar efforts are adopted across offices and institutions, workplaces everywhere could be transformed into spaces filled with positivity, environmental consciousness, and the beauty of nature.
