Induction Cooktops Fly Off Shelves Amid LPG Supply Concerns

New Delhi: Induction cooktops are rapidly selling out across major quick commerce platforms as concerns grow over a potential LPG supply disruption linked to rising tensions in West Asia.

On popular delivery apps such as Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart and BigBasket, users searching for induction cooktops are increasingly encountering messages like “Unavailable” or “Sold out” in several areas.

Across the Delhi NCR, many households checking these apps report that induction cooktops have either disappeared from listings or are being sold at significantly higher prices than usual.

The sudden surge in demand is believed to be driven by growing worries about a possible LPG supply crunch in India. Experts say these concerns are linked to geopolitical tensions in West Asia that could disrupt energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route through which a substantial portion of India’s LPG imports are transported.

With uncertainty surrounding the stability of the supply chain, consumers appear to be turning to electric cooking alternatives, triggering a spike in demand for induction cooktops across online platforms.
