They are fascinating marine creatures known for their impressive size, unique appearance, and ecological role in the ocean.

• Scientific Name : Cyanea capillata

Color :

Can vary significantly as Reddish-brown, Dark purple, Yellowish, Tan & their color can change depending on the individual and environmental factors.

• Food :

They capture prey using their long tentacles. They are carnivorous & primarily feed on zooplankton , Fish                           larvae ,smaller jellyfish & other small marine organisms. 

 Appearance:

They are characterized by their large, bell-shaped body (or medusa) that can reach up to 2.5 meters (8 feet) in diameter & the bell is typically divided into eight lobes and has long, flowing tentacles that can resemble a lion's mane. These tentacles can extend up to 37 meters (121 feet) in length.

• Location:

They are  primarily found in the colder waters of the Arctic, Northern Atlantic, and Northern Pacific Oceans & are often seen along the coasts of North America, Europe, and parts of Asia,

Weight:

Can vary widely, but they can weigh up to 200 kg (440 lbs) or more

Growth:  

They have a complex life cycle that includes both a polyp stage and a medusa stage.

Life Span: 

About 1 year & some individuals may live longer under optimal conditions .

Nature:

These are primarily solitary creatures & can be found in large numbers during blooms.

Reproduction & Regeneration:

Can reproduce both sexually and asexually . Also have a remarkable ability to regenerate allowing them to recover from injuries.

Largest Recorded Specimen: 

It was found off the coast of Massachusetts, USA, and measured approximately 2.5 meters (8 feet) in diameter with  tentacles extending up to 37 meters (121 feet) in length.
