- They have a streamlined bodies with long wings and a pointed beak. Its most distinctive feature is its bright blue feet, which are used in mating displays. The plumage is primarily white, with brownish-gray wings and a pale head.
Location:
- Primarily found in the eastern Pacific Ocean, especially around the Galápagos Islands & can also be found along the coasts of Central and South America, from California to Peru.
Color:
- The most notable color is the bright blue of their feet. The rest of their body is mostly white, with some brown or gray on the wings and back.
Weight:
- Adults typically weigh between 1.5 to 3.5 kg (approximately 3.3 to 7.7 lbs).
Growth:
- They reach sexual maturity at about 3 to 4 years of age & undergo a series of growth stages from chick to juvenile before becoming adults.
Life:
- The average lifespan in the wild is around 10 to 15 years, although some individuals may live longer.
Nature:
- These are social birds that often nest in colonies. They are known for their playful and curious nature, often engaging in social interactions with other birds.
Food:
- Their diet mainly consists of fish, particularly sardines and anchovies. They are skilled divers and can dive from heights of up to 30 meters (about 100 feet) to catch their prey.
